Te Karo Bay, 1842

For several years now, on and off, I've been working on the journals of Thomas Laslett, timber surveyor for the Royal Navy, all about his search for masts and spars around northern New Zealand through the 1830s and 1840s.  As part of my research I have long wanted to wander some of the sites he describes. In May I finally made my first such excursion, to Te Karo Bay, just north of Tairua on the Coromandel coast.
