Notice: Due to ill health I am no longer available for archives-related work (of the kind set out below)

I am one of New Zealand's most experienced collecting archivists (or manuscript curator as that task is known in the library world). Before my time at the Turnbull Library I was Arrangement and Description Archivist at Archives New Zealand.

My skills include:

  • Developing collecting policies and acquisition strategies
  • Appraisal of collections, and setting guidelines for appraisal
  • Valuation of collections
  • Arrangement and description projects, procedures and standards
  • Selection for digitisation
  • Assisting with preservation plans
  • Setting up reading room services
  • Curating collection-based exhibitions

Nowadays I am reinventing myself as a writer and researcher. But I remain very comfortable in my archivist’s hat, and am available to provide help and advice on archives or manuscript collection matters.

You can email me here.
